FCTA assists members, when requested, on almost any aspect of employment. We are here to help. Members can call and discuss issues confidentially, and with confidence. We provide legal consultation and advice through the MSEA legal department on employment matters when needed.

Our members receive assistance with issues such as:

Legal Assistance

FCTA and MSEA membership annual dues automatically include a $1,000,000 Employment Liability Insurance Policy

Your policy includes:

-Liability
-Defense of criminal charges Up to $35,000 for legal fees
-Defense of civil rights issues Up to $250,,000 for legal fees and damages
-Bail Bond Up to $1,000
-Personal property benefits for assault Up to $500 for damage or destruction that exceeds member's own insurance. -Coverage includes property (vehicles excluded), damaged while the member was on or around school property or on school business away from the building.
-Defense of charges resulting from particippation in a peer review system Defends any claim made or criminal proceeding brought against a member by another employee or former employee of an educational unit if the charge is related to the member's educational employment activities.

MSEA Attorney Referral Program

This service provides two free half-hour consultations each year plus a 30% discount on attorney fees for members with personal legal issues. With the member's referral, the program is available to the member's spouse and dependent children. All active, life, or retired members are eligible.

Coverage:

-30 minutes twice each year on any topic exxcept tax preparation;
-Discount of participating attorney fees off 30% for real estate, wills and estates, domestic relations, consumer protection, or traffic violations*.
